Entebbe International Airport is located right off the shores of the beautiful Lake Victoria.
The airport is under the authority of Uganda’s Civil Aviation Authority and is used as both a commercial and military airport. It is the hub airport for Air Uganda.
Entebbe International Airport is about 5 kilometers from Entebbe. In a car, this trip normally takes about 15 minutes.
If you were looking to take a nice stroll, you could even walk from Entebbe International Airport to Entebbe! The route, which takes you by a few beautiful Lake Victoria beaches, takes about 50 minutes.
Entebbe International Airport is approximately 50 kilometers away from Kampala. Though Google Maps may show you a route time of 50 minutes to 1 hour, locals will tell you that the drive from Entebbe to Kampala takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes.
There is hope with the development of the new Kampala Entebbe Expressway in Uganda that the average time will drop. However, it’s important to keep in mind that Kampala is a city of 6.7 million people, so you will likely encounter a bit of traffic congestion once you arrive.
Our advice? Plan on the longer side for the trip from Entebbe to Kampala, and be pleasantly surprised if you arrive early.
The same advice is true with driving from Kampala to Entebbe Airport. It is better to arrive ahead of time and enjoy a calm departure than to feel stressed arriving with no time to spare.
